Red Wine

Red Wines Selection

France offers a wide variety of red wines, with regions like Alsace, Burgundy, Bordeaux, and Côtes du Rhône producing some of the world's best. The Languedoc, especially in southern France, is also gaining attention for its high-quality, affordable wines.

  • Alsace: Red wines here are made from Pinot Noir, which thrives in the region’s cool climate, offering a distinct flavour compared to Burgundy.
  • Beaujolais: Made from 100% Gamay, these wines are juicy and fruity, ranging from light to medium-bodied. Beaujolais includes ten "crus" (villages), with wines like Brouilly and Morgon.
  • Bordeaux: Known for prestigious wines, Bordeaux blends Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and other grapes, producing both light and full-bodied reds. Key regions include Margaux, Pauillac, and Saint-Emilion.
  • Burgundy: Famous for Pinot Noir, Burgundy’s red wines are known for their elegance and complexity, with different producers offering unique styles depending on their vineyard’s soil.
  • Côtes de Provence, Languedoc, and South West: These warmer regions produce bold, fruity wines, often with great value, thanks to flexible regulations allowing for innovation.
  • Loire Valley: While more known for whites, the Loire's red wines, made from Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, and Gamay, tend to be fresher, lighter, and perfect for lighter meals or summer sipping.

Each of these regions offers a unique style, ranging from light and fruity to full-bodied and complex, reflecting the diversity of France's red wine production.
